Hvis man antager, at der kun er 218 V til r\u00e5dighed p\u00e5 indgangssiden, transformerer UPS'en dette til de s\u00e6dvanlige 230 V og stiller det til r\u00e5dighed p\u00e5 udgangssiden. Sp\u00e6ndingen reguleres kontinuerligt og j\u00e6vnt, og netfrekvensen p\u00e5 50 Hz overv\u00e5ges og reguleres ogs\u00e5. Det sikrer, at de korrekte elektriske parametre altid er til r\u00e5dighed for de tilsluttede belastninger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hvis AC-netsp\u00e6ndingen p\u00e5 indgangssiden svigter, skifter UPS'en til batteridrift p\u00e5 mindre end 20 millisekunder og genererer den n\u00f8dvendige 230 V AC-sp\u00e6nding fra DC-batterisp\u00e6ndingen.<br>Da skifteprocessen finder sted i dette meget korte tidsrum, bem\u00e6rker de tilsluttede enheder ikke det korte str\u00f8msvigt og forts\u00e6tter med at arbejde som normalt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I hjemmet er det normalt pc'er, routere osv. I den medicinske sektor forsynes livsopretholdende systemer, operationsstuer osv. via uafbrydelige str\u00f8mforsyninger i kort tid, dvs. indtil n\u00f8ddieselgeneratorerne tager over.<br>Andre apparater som perfusorer, respiratorer osv. har normalt indbyggede genopladelige batterier, der giver en uafbrudt str\u00f8mforsyning i tilf\u00e6lde af str\u00f8msvigt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Wechselrichter\"><\/span>Inverter<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Invertere bruges f.eks., n\u00e5r batterier oplades af solcelleanl\u00e6g, eller i autocampere til at drive 230 V-apparater.
